Buying over 85,000 MT Soybean from Farmers

As of today, a total of 85,382 MT of soybean has been purchased from farmers and transported to oil processing factories under the Guaranteed Procurement Program, reported the Government Trading Corporation of Iran PR.

Accordingly, the major soybean production plants in the current year are Ardebil, Golestan, Mazandaran, Lorestan, and Khoozestan provinces, whose soybean crops have been purchased at 24,694 Rls/Kg with an estimate of %2 impurities and 10% moisture.

The report adds that the largest amount of purchase and delivery of soybeans in the country goes to Ardebil province with 42,815 MT, followed by Golestan with 38,194 MT and Mazandaran with 4,267 MT. Also, Lorestan and Khoozestan have purchased 48 MT and 41 MT of soybeans from farmers so far.

The report further suggests that among the plans of the Government of Contrivance and Hope and in alignment with realization of the Resilience Economy goals, is a 10-year program the Iranian Ministry of Agriculture has been carrying out since last year to increase the self-sufficiency in oil seeds. If fully executed, the program is envisioned to fulfill 70% of the domestic demand for oil/ seeds.

It is good to mention that in the current year, the 285,000-MT internally produced oil seeds, including rapeseeds, sunflower seeds, safflower seeds, and soybean, indicates a 30% growth against the previous year.

Last year (1395 / 2016), 212,000 MT of oil seeds were purchased from farmers.
