Global Raise in Production and Export of Oil Seeds Foreseen

Agriculture Service: The US Department of Agriculture predicted a global increase of 7% in production of oilseeds in 2017 – 2018 agricultural year, raising it to 579.5 tons. This raise is reported partly due to the considerable growth in production of rapeseed, groundnut, and palm seed.

Foodpress predicted rapeseed production will reach 72.9 million tons with an 8% increase, of which the production reduction in Australia and India will be compensated by the 1.6 million ton production growth in Canada. Groundnut will be particularly produced in Senegal and the production growth in sunflower seeds in the EU will be undone by the decline in Russia and Argentina. There will be production raise about palm fruit in Indonesia and Thailand, while Malaysia will ease off on it.

In 2017 – 2018, oilseeds export will hit 176.3 million tons with a half-ton increase. The export raise of soybean in Argentina and Brazil, as well as in Canada will contribute to the global export raise of the product.
